Accessible Prosthetics Initiative
UT Dallas Chapter

The Accessible Prosthetics Initiative (API) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization on a mission to make prosthetics accessible for everyone who needs them.

We believe in a holistic approach that combines production, community outreach, education. Our goal is to create a self-sufficient community where individuals can produce their prosthetics as needed and have access to vital support networks, including support groups, and prosthetic clinics.

UTD API was founded in January 2023 with a goal of creating multidisciplinary teams working on a diverse array of projects, community outreach initiatives, and learning opportunities. We welcome students from all majors to join API and become an integral part of our rapidly growing organization. By contributing your unique skills and enthusiasm, you can help us shape a brighter, more inclusive future for countless individuals in need. To explore the exciting projects we’re currently working on and learn how you can get involved, please visit our projects page.

Together, let’s make a lasting impact on the world of prosthetics
and beyond.

Our three teams

  • Production – Designs and manufactures affordable prosthetics using CAD software and 3D printing
